Lofty, Cozy Down Alternative Comforters
Rest easy with our machine-washable down alternative comforters, available in Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, and King sizes. Made with synthetic fill that mimics the loftiness and insulating qualities of down, our down-free comforters are perfect for those with allergies or sensitivities to down, or people who would prefer an alternative to down. Just as soft and plush as down, this versatile, easy-to-clean bedding is ideal in any season.
Comforters in a variety of elaborate patterns, pretty florals, and solid colors in vivid or neutral hues are as gorgeous as they are warm, and there's something for every taste. Silky sateen, organic cotton, jersey knit—no matter the shell, each comforter offers an exceptionally soft hand, and plush, unbelievably cozy fill, and each is expertly finished with quilted channels to prevent the fill from shifting and to add a bit of texture. Choose a reversible comforter for twice the decorating options, or use the sturdy corner loops to hold a duvet cover in place—a versatile solution to protect your comforter and add a splash of color to the bed.
Find down-free comforters that are versatile enough to keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer. For cold winter nights, medium, and extra-warmth weights will keep you cozy. Often, people who prefer lighter insulation favor a lightweight down alternative comforter with a breathable cotton or TENCEL™ Lyocell shell that keeps moisture out and cool air circulating. For hot sleepers, a down-free comforter paired with a cooling mattress pad and temperature regulating sheets promote restful sleep on summer nights. For partners with different temperature preferences, reach for a dual comforter to give the ideal comfort for each inclination.
Our lofty fiber fills mimic the insulating warmth of down and include LaCrosse® LoftAIRE and PrimaLoft®, a premium down alternative fill that is an opulent addition to the bed and excellent for all seasons.
Indulge in a warm and cozy down alternative comforter that brings you the ultimate in over-the-top luxury. Find out more using our Comforter Guide to determine the perfect option for you.
Down Alernative Comforters Q&A
A down alternative comforter is a type of bedding that consists of a fabric shell and a synthetic fiber fill. Available in solids and patterns, our down-free and down alternative comforters are most often used as a warm top bedding layer.
Our down alternative comforters feature a lofty, synthetic, 100% polyester fiber fill that mimics the insulating loft, warmth, and softness of down.
The difference between down and down alternative comforters is the fill: down comforters are made with the light, fluffy clusters from beneath the feathers of geese and ducks, while down alternative comforters feature a synthetic 100% polyester fiber fill—so they’re perfect for those with allergies or sensitivities to down.
Down alternative comforters are just as warm and lofty as standard down comforters. Some of our down alternative comforters are available in three comfort weights—choose a light warmth comforter for summer evenings, and a comforter in a medium- or extra-warmth weight to keep you cozy on cold winter nights.
Although the two types of bedding are similar, a down alternative comforter is not the same as a duvet. To use a down alternative comforter as a duvet insert, look for one with corner loops that attach to the cover’s ties to keep it in place.
